This time of year can add extra pressure to anyone’s day, whether you are a property manager or a board member. Besides being there to lend a helping hand, we hope these helpful tips for relieving stress will help you breeze through budget season!
#1: TRY AN INVERSION
The “legs up the wall” pose is one of our faces when we need to unwind:
“Legs up the Wall” pose is a favorite of yoga instructors when they need to unwind. Of course, if you have any medical issues, we advise that you consult your doctor before attempting an inversion pose. So, how do you do the pose? Find an empty wall and lie on your back. Stretch your legs straight in the air. Scooch toward wall and rest legs on the wall. Rest with legs on wall for 5 minutes. This pose is really good for digestion too.
#2: NIBBLE ON CALMING FOODS
These foods contain elements that help calm the body and the mind: spinach, pistachios, avocado, lentils, limes, kale, asparagus, soybeans.
#3: TRY A CALMING BREATHING EXERCISE
Place your right thumb over your right nostril, breathe in through the left nostril for four counts. Then, cover the left nostril with your right ring finger, remove your thumb from the right nostril, breathe out of the right nostril for four counts. Continue for 20 breaths or until you are calm. While this may sound complicated, it’s not!
#4: SIP ON SOME PEPPERMINT TEA
Peppermint is rich in essential oils, vitamins and dietary fiber, which helps to control our blood cholesterol and blood pressure.
#5: Pay Someone a Genuine Compliment
Whether you’re acknowledging a team member’s hard work or lifting a neighbor’s spirit, spreading positivity is good for everyone!
#6: Take a Walk
There’s nothing like a little fresh air and some peace and quiet to help you clear your mind, refocus and prioritize. Even five minutes can do wonders.
#7: Pet a Cat or Dog
Not only are they adorable, but petting them for a few minutes is actually shown to lower your blood pressure. It’s a win-win!
#8: Make a Pick-Me Up Playlist
Take the time to create a soothing and energizing playlist for when you need it the most! Music is therapeutic!
